Cornish Frame Company is a specialist timber frame manufacturer in the South West, based in Newquay and serving self-builders, developers, architects, and contractors across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and beyond. With over 30 years of experience in timber construction, we manufacture precision-engineered timber frames designed to perform in some of the UK's most demanding coastal environments.
We work from our workshop at Nancemere Farm in St Newlyn East, where every panel, beam, and component is fabricated to exacting standards before delivery to the site. Whether your project is a one-off self-build, a multi-dwelling residential development, a barn conversion, or a commercial unit, our team handles each frame with the same accuracy and attention to detail. We offer flexible service options to suit your project: supply-only or supply-and-install, both offer bespoke design built around your specifications. From the first concept through to completion, we work closely with our clients to make sure every frame arrives on time and performs exactly as intended. |

Built for the South West's Coastline and Climate
|
Building in the South West isn't like building anywhere else in the UK. Atlantic weather, salt air, exposed sites, and strict planning rules all influence how a timber frame should be engineered.
What makes our products suit the region:
We understand how a timber frame for a clifftop self-build in St Agnes differs from one for a rural barn conversion near Bodmin Moor or a developer scheme in Plymouth. Local knowledge informs every decision we make, from timber grade selection to junction detailing. |
Quality Manufacturing Process
|
This is where the value really shows. Our workshop process is built around precision, repeatability and zero compromise on quality. Every timber structure leaves our workshop ready for a smooth, efficient installation on site.
1. Design and Engineering We work from architect drawings or your project brief to produce detailed shop drawings, including structural input where required. 2. Material Sourcing All timber is graded to UK and European standards and sourced from sustainable, certified forestry suppliers. 3. Workshop Fabrication Panels are precision-cut, assembled and finished within our controlled workshop environment to ensure accuracy and consistency. 4. Delivery to Site Frames are loaded in erection order to support a fast and organised installation process on site. 5. Installation Our erection team, or your chosen contractor, installs the frame efficiently, with many structures erected within just a few days. Off-site manufacturing offers significant advantages, including improved quality control, faster build times, reduced weather delays and fewer on-site issues. Many of our timber frame structures can reach a watertight shell stage much faster than traditional brick and block construction. |
our Who We Work WithWe're not a one-size-fits-all timber frame company. Our client base spans self-builders putting down roots in Cornwall, developers progressing residential schemes across Devon, architects looking for a reliable supplier, and contractors needing a dependable supply chain.
Whatever your role on the project, we work closely with you to make sure the structural shell element runs smoothly from concept through to completion. |

Lead times vary based on project size, workload and design complexity. A typical residential timber frame package takes 4 to 8 weeks from approved drawings to delivery. Contact us to secure your slot. Do timber buildings meet UK Building Regulations?
Yes. All our frames are designed to meet or exceed current UK Building Regulations for thermal performance, structural strength, fire safety, and durability. We can provide compliance documentation for Building Control. Why choose a timber frame over brick and block?
Timber frame offers faster construction times, better heat retention, lower embodied carbon, and excellent design flexibility. Most timber frame structures can be erected to a watertight shell in just days rather than months, dispute weather conditions, helping you move through the build process quickly. What does timber construction involve?
Timber construction means engineering a structural frame off-site, then assembling it on your plot. Our team has carried out this professional process for many years, working with a variety of builders to ensure each house is precisely fabricated and installation runs smoothly from start to finish. Why choose us for manufacturing your timber frame home?
We've specialised in timber for over three decades because it helps clients achieve high-performance homes faster, with lower cost compared to traditional stone or brick. We're proud of the homes we create, and our team stays closely involved at every stage. |
